Red Granite Pictures: The Brainchild of Riza Aziz, Joey McFarland that brought The Wolf of Wall Street

90s kids thank Riza Aziz and Joey McFarland from the bottom of their hearts. Why? Well, they helped in breaking the 20-year-old hiatus of the Dumb and Dumberfranchise. This movie was a modernized treat for the millennial kids as it featured a Bill Murray cameo while referencing the well- known crime drama, Breaking Bad. However, the best gift that this duo gave us was the Wolf of Wall Street that starred Leonardo DiCaprio. All this was possible, thanks to Red Granite Pictures, the pet project of Riza Aziz and Joey McFarland.
Riza Aziz collaborated with Joey McFarland to create Red Granite Pictures in 2010 as a film finance, development, production, and distribution company. This label started producing movies with a rom-com called Friends with Kids. The film received positive reviews with a 66% Rotten Tomatoes rating. Year 2013 was an important milestone for Red Granite Pictures as it produced The Wolf of Wall Street, a black comedy that followed the rise and fall of a real-life New York stockbroker. This film had 5 Oscar nominations, and won several other awards, with its hero Leonardo DiCaprio winning the Golden Globe Award for the Best Actor. However, more than the awards, it was the cult-following of this movie that generated headlines.
Later in 2014, Dumb and Dumber To was released. Interestingly, this movie was awarded by the Women Film Critics Circle Awards for the worst male images in a movie. Dumb and Dumber To was long awaited since its first installment in 1994. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels reprised their role as the dim-witted duo Harry and Lloyd who go on yet another slapstick adventure.
Currently, Red Granite Pictures is working on The General, a biographical based on the American politician, freedom fighter, and the first president of the United States of America, George Washington. Riza Aziz and Joey McFarland have also signed up for an untitled psychological horror film.
